District Governor Visit

Don't Miss It!

District Governor Sandy Matsui makes her official club visit. She will be sharing this year's vision and goals for D5000. For this special meeting, we will also be joined by the Rotary e-Club of Hawaii.

Sandy has been a proud member of the Rotary Club of Kāneʻohe since 1992. After she served as Club President in 2011-2012, her Rotary journey led to new adventures serving District 5000 as Assistant Governor for three years, District Secretary, District Trainer and as a member of the Host Organizing Committee for the Rotary International Convention that was scheduled to be held in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi in 2020.

Sandy entered her professional career journey wanting to make a difference and began directing programs at California State University, Bakersfield fulfilling her passion to expand educational opportunities for low-income, underrepresented students to gain access to and graduate from college.  She spent over a decade serving in executive leadership positions on national and regional boards educational associations. In 1992, her journey brought her to Hawaiʻi to serve as the Dean of Student Services at Windward Community College, University of Hawaiʻi. Currently, she serves as a faculty member at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa advising student leaders who govern, manage and run college media programs. She feels fortunate to be able to continue to make a difference in her professional life working with college students, as well as her life as a Rotarian serving the community and the world.

Sandy and her husband Gerry are blessed with two sons, Gerand and GeRysand. Their ohana also includes Khaleesi (miniature dachshund) who serves as Gerry’s service dog and Sandy’s source of emotional comfort and support, a cat, chinchilla, cockatiels, turtles, opa’e and more. The Matsui Cabanilla ʻOhana is looking forward to 2021-22 when Sandy will have an opportunity to humbly serve as the D5000 District Governor to Serve with Aloha to Change Lives.

Our Upcoming Projects

Back to School Supply Drive - Last Week to Donate

To help provide Palolo Elementary School keiki with the educational tools to succeed, we are collecting school supplies. Any monetary donations will be used to purchase supplies on the list below. Big thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

Our Latest Project

Palolo Elementary School Cleanup

We had our first project of the new Rotary year last month. With the Palolo Elementary School keiki coming back to campus this month, we worked hard to beautify their playground and basketball area. We spent the day weed whacking, weed pulling, tree cutting, sweeping and more, so now they have much more room to play and run around!
