Kaui Philpotts is a writer living in Honolulu. Her first work of fiction, “Cane Fires,” is a book of short stories set on a Maui sugar plantation in the 1940s and 50s. She readily acknowledges that it is loosely autobiographical. The world she writes about helped set the stage for modern day Hawaii. 

Her previous non-fiction works include Hawaii: A Sense of Place with Mary Philpotts McGrath, Party Hawaii, Floral Traditions: e Honolulu Academy of Arts and Hawaiian Country Tables.
