Jim McCoy
Pacific Historic Parks
Jim McCoy joined Pacific Historic Parks as communications director on June 10. He is a veteran journalist and public relations executive.  He began his career as a reporter at the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.  He then moved to broadcast, working 20 years at KHON as a reporter, assignment editor and then news director.  He also worked  at KOMO News in Seattle.  In between journalism positions,  Jim worked in Hawaii public relations and consulted a number of local political campaigns on media strategy.

Jim is a graduate of Radford High School and the University of Hawaii.  He and his wife Louise have two kids, both graduated from Kaiser High School here in Hawaii Kai.
He moved to Hawaii when his dad was stationed here as part of his Air Force duties. Jim's dad retired as the sixth chief master sergeant of the Air Force.  Two of Jim's sisters are married to career military officers. So this position at Pacific Historic Parks is right down his wheelhouse: Military upbringing, love of history, knowledge of news and public relations, and experienced in media campaigns.
