East Honolulu Rotarians travel to Kyoto for the Rotary Club of Kyoto South's 70th Anniversary Party.
In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Kyoto South, a festive party with over 400 attendees was held at the beautiful Kyoto Granvia Hotel. The event highlighted the deep-rooted spirit of service and global camaraderie that Rotary International embodies. Five Rotarians from our club, including President Cheryl Holdcroft and her daughter Lauren, alongside Miki May, Alissa Pranica, and Kecia Sharpe, joined in the festivities, marking a memorable gathering of international friendship and collaboration. This special occasion also welcomed members from the Taipei Club and the Aomori, Japan Club, further enriching the event with a wide array of experiences and perspectives. It was great getting to meet so many great Rotarians! Five years ago, members of our club travelled to the same event for the 65th Anniversary, and Kyoto South Rotarians have joined us several times here in Honolulu.
The party was held in the heart of Kyoto, a city that perfectly encapsulates the blend of history, culture, and beauty, the celebration was a testament to the enduring bonds that unite Rotarians across the globe. The evening's festivities were made even more remarkable by a performance from the Kyoto Philharmonic, whose melodies echoed the rich heritage of the city and the global reach of Rotary's mission. A seated dinner, enhanced by the presence of geisha and maiko serving drinks, added a touch of traditional elegance, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
This event was not just a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Kyoto South but a symbol of the strength and diversity of the Rotary community, showcasing the shared commitment to making a difference in the world, one project at a time.
